Tuesday Step-Up

This blog is brought to you by the DOMINO HEALTH FOUNDATION - www.dominohealth.org

by Marie Dufour, RD - This is the second day of our

"DOMINO - Live, Ho!" series

to help you get into shape.  This column is designed for people who have lost their drive to follow a healthy lifestyle and don't want to get on one more diet, ever!  We're here to get you roll out of bed and get you in shape again.

Monday was detox day, just to re-establish your average energy balance, detox your liver and spare your pancreas.  Feeling better?  Almost?  Are you still craving fat?  It's normal.  Fat-craving messages to our brain can last up to 3 days.  Let's make Tuesday a step-up day, still with lots of allium and cruciferous vegetables, some probiotics (yogurt) and light on saturated fat.

Activity-wise, step it up too.  Yesterday, you learned how to rock-the-bed and pedal in bed. Now, add some straight leg-ups (3 sets of 10 on each side).  Feel the stretch in your spine?  Now, get up and step through 2 songs (6 minutes), making sure to include a few lunges.  Not even 10 minutes and you have awaken your metabolic machine.

Tuesday Step-up breakfast:

- 6oz NF yogurt

- 1/2cup pineapple chunks

- 1/3cup granola.

Tuesday Step-up Lunch:

- Grilled Ham Sandwich with Watercress

- 1 pear

Tuesday Step-up Dinner:

- 1 cup Leek & Spinach soup

- 3oz gingered fish Tahitian style

   with its sautéed vegetables

- 1 cup sugar-free non-fat flan

Snack Attack?  1/3 cup cottage cheese with 5 almonds.

Hydration plan:  tea (green, black, red or white), ginger-hibiscus herb tea, yerba mate, black coffee, and water.

Tomorrow: Wednesday Power-up!
